‘Excited to announce the relaunch of The Adventures of Garry the Gargoyle!
Book i—Garry’s Upside-Down Adventure revised edition is coming out soon! Why the revised edition? Well, Garry didn’t quite get to tell his story exactly as he had hoped. . . the author was new to writing about silly gargoyles who go on crazy adventures—and many humans had their ideas of how Garry’s story should be told. Garry has since found his own voice (with the help of some humans of course. . .) and can’t wait to share it with the world!
The second edition builds upon the first, but adds more color, fun, and flow to the story. And, that bossy, moggy black cat returns (by popular demand!) to create more hassle for Garry in the garden of friends.
For those who purchased the first edition via Garry’s web-site or the author directly, you will be receiving a new (or multiple if more than one copy purchased) 8x8 hardback copy of the revised book i. If you purchased a copy via Amazon or local bookstore, please contact the author via, firstname.lastname@example.org to receive your replacement copy (proof of purchase pretty please).
If you haven’t already ordered Garry’s Upside-Down Adventure, stay tuned for relaunch date. A limited amount of copies will be available as well through Garry’s web-site. ‘Hope you all enjoy Garry’s new magic!
1967: Mary Christenson Wyman, creator of Garry the Gargoyle, with her three children including author, Karin Wyman Vardaman (bottom, middle).
A fun day was had by all at Garry's Upside-Down Celebration! Thanks to all the family and friends who helped make this event a success and all who came together to honor the creation of Garry the Gargoyle! 'Looking forward to many more adventures ahead!
Yesterday, Garry's Upside-Down Adventure was featured on our first live radio show interview--Blog Talk Radio: Children's Author Discussion. This was a great opportunity to share how Garry came to life and hear from other newly published authors on their experiences. The host, Marsha Cook, gave Garry rave reviews!
My fabulous editor called today and informed me that Garry's Upside-Down Adventure has been accepted by Tattered Cover Book Stores. This is quite the honor as they receive over 300 new book submissions each month! And they didn't just accept the Adventures Of Garry The Gargoyle to be carried in their stores--they absolutely LOVE Garry and all of his friends! I will now have the opportunity to work with their promotions team and hold book signing events at various Tattered Cover Book Stores here in Colorado. Thank you to my most wonderful editor, Paulette, who has continued to believe in me and this project. I can't wait to share my Mom's creation in-person to smiling children all over the state.
We don’t know the exact year that Mom created Garry The Gargoyle, but I remember well the moment my siblings and I discovered her partial manuscript. I recall opening the coffee-stained yellow file folder and the emotions of surprise and intrigue felt upon finding this treasure. The fun, creativity, and thought that went into this tale. Lines written and lines crossed out. Her words scratched in pencil and in different colored pens indicating that she had worked on this story over time. I remember my inability to stop laughing at Garry’s antics, and I knew then that someday, somehow, Garry had to come to life. What I didn’t anticipate is that it would take twelve years for that to happen. And what inspired me to finally revisit my Mom’s manuscript and write Garry’s Upside-Down Adventure is a story for another day. But, I do wish to share some of her original notes posted here. Pip, pip for now!
